The Four Noble Truths

1. The noble truth of dukkha, i.e., that existence is out of whack like a wheel having an axle that is off center, eccentric. Often translated as suffering because suffering is inherent in existence.

2. The noble truth of dukkha samudaya, i.e., the origin of dukkha, often explained as craving for existence.

3. The noble truth of dukkha nirodha, the cessation of dukkha.

4. The noble truth of dukkha nirodha gamini patipada, the eightfold path leading to dukkha nirodha, the cessation of dukkha.
